DuraLabel Supplies Cost Comparison

I just ran into a utility I had forgotten about. The Labeling Tape web site includes a utility that allows you to directly compare the cost you are currently paying for supplies for a labeling machine with the supply cost for the DuraLabel thermal transfer printer.

You can select from three label printers: the Brady Labelizer Plus, the GlobalMark and the Varitronics EasyStep 4000. Select the type of tape you are using and enter the amount you are currently paying per roll. The utility will then calculate the cost of using the same (or similar) supplies on the DuraLabel and show you the difference. You may be surprised at how much you can save.

The labeling supply cost comparison utility is located at: http://www.labelingtape.com/savings/index.php

Arc Flash Labeling

A labeling issue that is growing is that of arc flash labeling.

Arc flash is a hazard that results from the rapid release of energy resulting from an electrical arc. An arc flash vaporizes metal and creates a violent explosion. An arc flash happens when dirt, debris builds up or a tool falls to create a short circuit.

Every potential source of an arc flash must be labeled to warn of the danger and supply information about that danager.

There is an excellent web site and blog that provides information about arc flash labeling. The blog in particular is good as it provides topic specific information, as well as current arc flash news. The blog allows you to subscribe to receive email copies of postings, so you'll receive the latest arc flash news in your inbox.

Industrial Labelers

Disclosure... I just finished adding new content to the web site I'm about to mention. This is one of the web sites I currently manage. But I'm mentioning it because it provides one of the best summaries of the supplies available for the DuraLabel printer... in particular the die cut supplies.

The number and type of die cut supplies available for the DuraLabel have been growing. Even the main DuraLabel web site does not list them all. But for now, at least, you can find a good list of DuraLabel supplies on the Industrial Labelers web site.

New materials are being developed for the DuraLabel label printer at a regular pace. The product development team has been growing and you'll be seeing some great new products coming out in the near future. So stay turned!!!

OSHA Labels and Signs

Having proper safety labeling and signs throughout your facility is important, both for protecting your employees, contractors and visitors, and for avoiding OSHA fines. There is a blog that provides interesting reading concerning OSHA and safety labeling. It is a part of the Safe Workplace web site. It regularly posts press releases from OSHA describing proposed penalties for violations of safety codes and regulations, including having inadequate labeling and signs.

U.S. Military Labeling Supplies

It seems there is a web site dedicated to just about every subject you can imagine. In this post I'm going to talk about one you might not have thought about.

Labeling is something that does not come to mind, expect for those who need to do labeling. If you need to do labeling, then it become important and finding the best fit between your labeling needs and available equipment and labeling supplies does become important.

There is a web site that is just about military labels and signs. It features label printers, sign makers, poster printers, vinyl cutters and laminators that are suitable for military applications. It is called: U.S. Military Supplies.

If you are in the military, and it need not just be the U.S. military, and you need to make signs or labels, then visit this web site. They have label makers that can make large and small labels. They have poster printers that are excellent for making visual aids for field training. And they have vinyl cutters that are excellent for making large signs, vehicle lettering and window lettering.

DuraLabel 4 Supplies

What's new at DuraLabel? Why don't you tell them?

A wide variety of DuraLabel 4 supplies are already available. Everything from shrink tubes for labeling wires to a large format NFPA Diamond. There are vinyl tapes in six widths and two thicknesses. Die cut labels and tough-to-tear DuraTags are available. Specialty materials include phosphorescent tapes, reflective tapes, low temperature tapes and more. With all that it offers, there are ways the DuraLabel can become still better.

Use the above link to check out the DuraLabel and DuraLabel 4 supplies. If you have labeling or sign making projects that DuraLabel can't handle, let them know. The product development team at DuraLabel would be happy to hear your suggestions, problems and ideas.

Keep in mind the DuraLabel is an industrial quality 300 dpi thermal transfer printer. If you are looking for a labeler to make file folder labels--yes, the DuraLabel can do that, but if that's all you need to do then you can get by with a much smaller, office type labeler. Instead of trying to pound a screw into the wall with a hammer, it's better to use a screwdriver. In those cases the DuraLabel customer service representative will probably recommend using a different machine (they stock a wide variety of label machines).
