Labeling Requirements For Secondary Chemical Containers

Chemicals come in containers, referred to as the primary container, that are properly labeled by the manufacturer. But, when chemicals are transfered to a secondary container, precautions need to be taken to ensure these are properly labled. Proper labeling of secondary containers can be neglected.

The Environmental Health and Safety Department of Cornell University has published excellent guidelines to secondary container labeling in their Guide to Chemical Safety for Laboratory Workers.
